The Curator's Desk

A superbly carved mahogany and flame veneered pedestal desk, the shaped top with a tooled leather writing surface, above three drawers to one side; one pedestal with three graduated drawers, the other with a drawer and a filing drawer below, all with delicate vine carving, the corners each with a leopard's head capital. Inspired by an original by Thomas Chippendale, as depicated in The Gentleman and Cabinetmaker's Director, 1762.
