At Theodore Alexander furniture is our canvas and history is our inspiration. Each piece of painted furniture, be it a bookcase or a screen, has its roots in the rich archives of the past. Even as we lead the marketplace in design we are building on the grand traditions of hand craftsmanship established centuries ago.
Furniture has been painted and embellished for thousands of years. Historically the only limit to the painter has been imagination and resources. Regency ladies in England would hand-decorate furniture with the finest of oils and sable brushes, whilst the first American settlers in the wilderness transformed primitive furniture to unique artworks with the aid of feathers and fingers. From Europe to Asia, North America to Africa, the urge to lay our own unique imprint on our surroundings has resulted in a rich trove of painted furniture history.
Explore the breadth of our designs, and the attention to detail we rejoice in.
