An impressive oversized verdigris and gilt iron sunburst mirror, the frame of two overlapping concave sided squares, enclosing a circular convex mirror with four small circular marginal mirrors.
We use the time-honoured techniques of lost wax casting, sand casting and wrought iron in our very own foundry. From the hand carved wax to hand polishing and finishing, these processes take time and great care to meet our meticulous standards.
Crushed eggshell inlay, hand-tooling with gold leaf; hand-painting with fine art techniques, the ancient art of gilding and our Argento technique involving canvas wrapping, gilding and painting are just a few of the techniques used to create the authentic finishes on our furnishings. Using traditional tools and techniques handed down through the ages imbue each piece with an air of authenticity and individuality.
Regularly dust and wipe clean with a good quality furniture polish twice each month. Avoid using soap and water or any water-based cleaning products on iron as this may cause rusting.
Theodore Alexander artists painstakingly create our hand-painted finishes using meticulous brushstrokes and age-old techniques. You can use a good quality furniture polish to maintain and preserve the unique artwork. Take care not to use abrasive cloths or polishes that may scratch a hand-painted finish.
